New Xbox Live Update
Hi All,
Microsoft have just released a new Dashboard design for Xbox Live....
Microsoft informed Xbox 360 users through a release email about the implementation of the Xbox Live fall 2010 update, featuring a redesign of the dashboard and support for Kinect. This update, introduced mainly to integrate Kinect with the consoles, will be mandatory - meaning, you won't be able to log into Xbox Live without it. No need to hit the panic button because the update is expected to take ten minutes, which should be an hour for us, considering our bandwidth limitations.
According to the release, the update aims to "enhance the interface, navigation, and responsiveness" of the Xbox 360, apart from the inclusion of new features, which incorporate updated graphical interface, add Zune Music and ESPN programming into the dashboard, new Avatars, and additional search capabilities to Netflix. Other miscellaneous changes (as found in the release) include:
Improved voice quality - The audio codec is being updated to improve Xbox LIVE Party chat audio quality.
Improved experience for changing your Gamertag - If the Gamertag you're looking for is already taken, your Avatar will spin a wheel and provide five other Gamertag suggestions at a time.
Streamlined in-dashboard virtual keyboard - The existing QWERTY keyboard in-dash is made easier to use for scenarios that involve repeated text entry. For example, when signing up for LIVE within the dashboard.
Improved Xbox LIVE Marketplace UI and browse experience - Games Marketplace has been re-organized to provide streamlined access to the games and content, reducing the number of steps it takes to get to a download.
New browse experience for 100 percent completed games - Instead of only being able to view your first dozen completed games, we're giving you a new and better way to browse all of them.
Avatar changes - Avatars are slightly more proportional to aid playability of Kinect games.
Easier to get on a wireless network
Ability to sign-out other controllers in the sign-in UI
